Beef Cake by Jiffy Kate

DB04-BC-EBOOK Beef Cake is a full-length contemporary romance, can be read as a standalone, and is book #4 in the Donner Bakery series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

About the Book

If opposites do actually attract, then Gunnar Erickson and Frankie Reeves take the cake.

Frankie Reeves is complicated, even though she won’t admit it. She fills her days working as an ER nurse, taking care of her mom, and searching for the father she never knew. Anything else has no place in her perfectly compartmentalized, purposefully simple life.

Attachments? No thank you. She has no time for that.

Gunnar Erickson recently moved to Green Valley to train at Viking MMA with his brother Cage. Being the youngest of the Erickson clan, he’s always felt like he has something to prove, and now that he’s finished with college, it’s his time to shine. But before he can step into the ring, a freak accident sends him to the ER and into the care of one Frankie Reeves.

While he’s immediately smitten, she pretends to be unfazed by this six-foot-three, two hundred and thirty-pound beef cake. Gunnar sets out to prove to Frankie that, not only does she like him more than she wants to admit, but he’s not the uneducated, brute she assumes he is. To Frankie, he’s the worst kind of complication, but that doesn’t make it easy to stay away.

Librarian Laura’s Review of Beef Cake

Gunner Erickson recently moved to Green Valley, TN, following his older brother Cage. Gunner, age 22, is the youngest of five brothers, all of which are involved in the family business of MMA fighting. Gunner is training at Cage’s gym, Viking MMA. Cage, the well-known Viking Fighter, had an unfortunate injury and is now retired from his professional MMA career. Now, Cage trains others and spends his days and nights wrapped up in Tempest, the Duchess of Muffins at the local Donner Bakery. Gunner appreciates being able to live with Cage while he trains, but he’s heard and seen way too much of the lovebirds than he ever thought he could stand.

When a freak accident at the gym sends Gunner to the ER for stitches, he comes face to face with Frankie Reeves. Frankie doesn’t have time for a man in her life, but this beef cake is hotter than hot and she feels a jolt whenever he trains his blue eyes on her. Gunner could probably pick any girl he wanted, and Frankie has never even been on a proper date. Gunner knows immediately that he has to see Frankie again. Her all-business attitude, more than capable medical skills, and beautiful body stir something in him that he hasn’t felt in a while, or maybe ever. Frankie blows off his attempt at a date, and the challenge flag is up. As an MMA fighter, Gunner never backs down from a challenge. Even if he has to take it slow and steady, he will keep his eye on the prize. And this time, the prize is Frankie Reeves.

When their paths cross a second time, Gunner is intrigued, but also a bit worried about Frankie. She is obviously hiding something. Is she is danger? Why is she mixed up with the local bikers? Gunner has heard that the Iron Wraiths are a bad bunch, and to steer clear of them at all costs. So why is sweet Frankie with her big heart and jaw-dropping smile giving them the time of day? Gunner vowed to himself that he wouldn’t pry too much and scare Frankie away, but he just can’t help it. No one else is looking out for Frankie. He may be a beef cake, but he’s also a goner when it comes to Frankie Reeves.

You’ll love this book – I promise! You can read it as a standalone, but I would recommended reading the whole Donner Bakery series. They are all so, so, so good! And then you’ll meet the whole crew and know more about Green Valley, TN in the process.
