Adult Fiction book review

Stupid Love by Tara Wyatt

Stupid Love is the first book in The Prescotts series, featuring the Prescott brothers, a devilishly handsome group who are breaking hearts and turning heads all across New York City. This is a best friends to lovers romance with a lot of steam. I hope you love it as much as I did!

Theo Prescott is a highly successful and driven divorce attorney, who, unlike many in his field, is not in it just for the money. Because of his parents own messy divorce, Theo aims to take care of his clients so that their children do not have to go through the horrible situation that he did. Also because of the bad example set by his selfish parents, Theo doesn’t believe in or ever intend to fall in love. He figures it will be easier on him and any woman he spends his time with to keep things from ever getting serious. Since his college days, Theo has been best friends with the most beautiful woman he’s ever met. Lauren.

Lauren is a singer songwriter, and her band is starting to pick up some local gigs and be recognized. She is extremely talented, but her talent isn’t quite enough to pay the bills just yet. She works a day job as a library assistant and enjoys her friendship with her coworker, Dori. Any spare time when she isn’t working, writing songs, or singing, Lauren can usually be found with her best friend Theo Prescott. Lauren met Theo back in college 10 years ago, when she dated Theo’s roommate for a short time. The roommate turned out to be a bad decision, but Lauren gained the best friend a girl can have. Theo is caring, determined, dependable, and so gorgeous that Lauren has to remind herself frequently that best friends and romance shouldn’t mix. Besides, who knows if Theo, a man who could literally pick any woman he wanted, would ever be interested in her in that way. While Theo has made it clear that he wants to remain single, Lauren doesn’t.

Their well-meaning mutual friend decides that Theo and Lauren should each find a date for each other, since they know one another better than anyone else. This turns out to be quite comical, because Lauren isn’t the only one harboring secret romantic feelings for her best friend. Theo finds out really quick that he doesn’t like the idea his best girl with any other man. Now he just has to figure out what to do about it. After they both go on a terrible blind date, they end up on a very awkward, uncomfortable blind double date together. And this part of the story, my friends, contains my favorite scene (you’ll know it when you get there) and favorite line, “I want you, you big dummy!” Let the swooning commence…

I loved this story and the characters so much! I look forward to more stories featuring the charming and charismatic Prescott brothers. Thank you so much to the author for providing me with a review copy in exchange for a review. You can check out Tara’s books at https://www.tara-wyatt.com/.
